Have you always wanted to knit a beautiful, basic cardigan? With this simple and clear written pattern you can get started knitting your own oversized cardigan. The LYSS CARDIGAN is an oversized Bernadette-like cardigan, with my special signature sleeves. There are several knitting patterns available in our webshop with these types of sleeves.

STITCHES AND ABBREVIATIONS
I believe that the cardigan is not very difficult to knit, but you do need some knitting experience. The techniques you need for this knitting pattern are:

  • Knit (K) and purl (P) stitches alternated (rib stitch)
  • Knit (K) and purl (P) rows alternated (stockinette stitch)
  • Mattress stitch

SIZES
The knitting pattern contains one size and has an oversized fit. The cardigan is worked up in five separate parts. The cardigan is very oversized if it’s worn as a size S, and has a regular fit if it’s worn as a size XL. The length and/or width of the design can be adjusted to your own wishes. If you make any adjustments to the length and/or width, you will need extra yarn.

MATERIALS

  • Straight knitting needles 10 mm (US15 / UK000)
  • Circular knitting needles 6 mm (US10 / UK4) and 10 mm (US15 / UK000)
  • Tapestry needle to seam the cardigan up.
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors

YARN
The yarn combination I used for the cardigan in the example is a combination of 5 strands worked together. For the cardigan I used:

  • 7 skeins Drops Kid Silk in the color 38 chalk (per skein: 25 g / 200 m – total: 175 g / 1400 m).
  • 16 skeins Drops Nepal in the color 8915 chalk (per skein: 50 g / 75 m – total: 800 g / 1200 m).
  • 5 skeins Phildar Phil Shiny in the color ecru (per skein: 50 g / 170 m – total: 250 g / 850 m).
I worked 5 strands of yarn together: 2 strands Drops Kid Silk, 2 strands Drops Nepal and 1 strand Phil Shiny.

Any yarn or yarn combination suitable for a 10 mm knitting needle can be used to knit this cardigan. I recommended knitting a swatch, especially when using a substitute yarn.

Further information is described in the pattern. If you have any questions, please send a message. After ordering this digital product, you will receive a digital pattern (PDF-file) with which you can knit a cardigan yourself. You will not receive a finished project!
