Combined Knit & Crochet Pattern HEART SWEATER – Oversized Chunky Sweater with Heart Motif

All you need is love! And this HEART SWEATER.
A classic chunky knit with sleeves crocheted in a fun heart motif. This sweet design combines both crochet and knitting techniques. The front and back panels of the sweater are knitted, while the sleeves are crocheted.

With this design, you can mix and match bright colors to your heart’s content—or go for more natural tones. The possibilities are endless. You can also easily change the base color. The pattern includes written instructions, crochet charts, and videos.

STITCHES AND ABBREVIATIONS
In terms of difficulty, I believe the Heart Sweater is not very hard to make, but you do need some experience with both crochet and knitting. The techniques used in this combined pattern include:

• Knit (K) and purl (P) stitches alternated (rib stitch 1/2 & 1/1)
• Knit (K) and purl (P) rows alternated (stockinette stitch)
• Mattress stitch 
• Picking up stitches with circular needles
• Binding off (knit and purl)

• Crocheting chains
• Crocheting double crochets
• Crocheting slip stitches / single crochets
• Invisible color changes between groups of double crochets
• Neatly casting off and weaving in ends
• Alternating knit and purl rows (stockinette stitch)

SIZES
The pattern includes sizes XS / S / M / L / XL / XXL. A measurement table is provided in the pattern so you can choose the right size for you. It’s easy to make the sweater longer by adding rows. This also applies to the sleeves. In that case, you’ll need more yarn than indicated.

MATERIALS

• 8 mm (US 11 / UK 0) straight knitting needles
• 8 mm (US 11 / UK 0) circular knitting needles (40 / 60 cm (16'' / 24'')
• 4.5 mm (US 7 / UK 7) crochet hook
• (Thick) needle for sewing the separate parts together.
• Stitch holder or a strand of yarn to hold the stitches.
• Stitch marker
• Scissors

YARN

• Drops Alaska Uni Colour in shade 02 – off white (50 g / 70 m) – 100% wool

• Drops Alaska Uni Colour in shade 10 – red (50 g / 70 m) – 100% wool

• Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk in shade 01 – off white (25 g / 140 m) – 77% alpaca / 23% silk
